Lakes

Various and imposing are the lakes and ponds spread all over the area of Merano and environs, from val Passira to Val d’Ultimo and Val Senales.

A wide range of alpine lakes as well as artificial lakes characterise the area of Merano and surroundings and make this area an even more popular hiking area. Some of them extend down in the valley, while others are embedded between the highest peaks and are only reachable on foot. Particularly popular lakes in the area of Merano and surroundings are Lago Verge, Lago di Vernago (see fig.), Lago di Fontana Bianca, Lago di Zoccolo, Lago Falkomai, Lago del Covolo, Laghi di Sporanes and Tre Laghi.
