Markets, fairs and shopping

Via dei Portici, weekly markets or flee markets, there are various possibilities to make shopping a lasting experience in Merano and surroundings.

If you love bargain hunting or you love to pack fresh products in your grocery bag, we recommend you to visit one of the markets of Merano and surroundings. A huge market is taking place on Friday mornings in Via 4 Novembre and Piazza Prader, while a market of remote dimensions is held in the same place on Tuesday mornings.

On Wednesdays there is a little market at Piazza Vittorio Veneto in Sinigo/Merano (grocery and clothes), a farmers’ market is offered every Saturday morning in Via Galilei. Every second Thursday from July 8 to the end of October, there is a biologic market at Piazza della Rena, offering products of biologic cultivation. There is a flee market every last Saturday of the month from 8 to 4 pm along the Winter Promenade of Merano. By the way, talking about shopping we also have to mention the popular Christmas markets of Merano and Lana.

However, Naturno offers a weekly market on Saturdays, while the ultimate market highlight of Val d’Ultimo takes place every year on September 22. And in case you might make a trip to Val Venosta, these are the days of the markets taking place in this valley:

> Mondays: Castelbello - Ciardes
> Tuesdays: Prato allo Stelvio
> Wednesday: Malles
> Thursdays: Silandro
> Friday: Laces

But… it does not necessarily have to be a market, as there are many more possibilities for shopping. What about a stroll across the Via dei Portici of Merano, offering plenty of shops and representing THE shopping mall of Merano. And when you cannot carry your bags any more, we recommend you to stop and have a cup of real Italian Cappuccino in the longest arcades of Tyrol.
