No matter if you prefer classical music, rock, pop, jazz, blues or chamber music, Merano is able to satisfy every taste in music by offering several music events taking place the whole year round. One of the particular highlights are the Merano Music Weeks that were founded in 1986 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the city. In the course of time this event has become a benchmark in the international music scene.
LanaLive, however, animates the music scene in the homonymous village close to Merano. The most different places and corners in the village are venue for high-quality concerts, including blues, jazz, swing and latin as well as local folk music.
Also the Garden Nights at Castel Trauttmansdorff are popular music events. In front of the magnificient backdrop of the botanic gardens, between July and August, every two weeks, a number of world music concerts take place. A real highlight in the concert summer of Merano.
Those who prefer down-to-earth rather than world music are invited to listen to one of the concerts by local music groups, e.g. in one of the villages surrounding Merano. Also at the Grape Festival in Merano, music has got an important role to play, concerts and performances of folk groups take place, making you part of musical tradition of this area. So, Merano has to offer something for every taste.
