Snow-shoeing at Merano 2000

The snow-shoeing tour to the Giogo della Croce takes across the skiing and hiking area of Merano 2000.

Merano 2000… above all those who love winter sports might be familiar with this skiing area, as it stands for well-groomed slopes and a great panoramic view. However, today we decide to do winter sports away from the crowd, that is to say we do a snow-shoeing tour to the Giogo della Croce.

Start of our walk is the valley station of Falzeben, where you can also park your car (subject to charge). The trail n° 51 starts in this place, first it takes down and than steeply up to the Moschwaldalm pasture. This intermediate hiking destination at 1,753 m asl can be reached in about 1 hour. We contiune to the Maiser Alm pasture and on the trail n° 15 the way up to the Giogo della Croce at 1,981 m asl. After an extended break with a great view on the Monte Ivigna and Monte Cervina we take the same way back.

By the way: another way up to the Giogo della Croce starts at the mountain station Falzeben and takes via the Weidemann Alm to the Rifugio Merano, continuing on the European long distance walking trail E5 to the Giogo della Croce and back on the way described above (about 4.5 hours).
