Glaiten

Glaiten is famous for its S. Ippolito church, offering a great view on the valley.

Glaiten is located at 1,000 m asl and can be reached via the road stretching to Passo del Giovo, turn left before you reach Walten. Glaiten is above all known for its S. Ippolito church which is of late-Romanesque origns. This sight can be seen from the centre of the village and can only be reached on foot. By the way, from S. Ippolito you can enjoy a fabulous view on the Val Passiria up to Merano.

Worthwhile is also a walk to the Monte Fumaiolo (2.389 m), which is considered to the the local mountain of San Leonardo in Passiria. To ascend this mountain, start at the Römerkehre U-curve at Passo del Giovo. In winter it is a popular excursion destination for those who love ski tours. From its summit you enjoy a great view on the Ötztal, Stubai and Sarentino Alps.
