Val Senales

La Val Senales è una delle valli più affascinanti delle Alpi ed è ideale per escursioni e gite in montagna.

The Val Senales extends in altitudes between 1,245 m and 2,001 m and is considered to be one of the most beautiful Alpine valleys that is by the way famous beyond borders. Senales comprises the municipalities of Monte Santa Caterina, Certosa, Madonna di Senales, Vernago al Lago, Maso Corto and the idyllic Val di Fosse in the Tessa nature park.

Maso Corto, located at 2,000 m asl, is probably the most famous locality of the valley, as it is the seat of a whole-year-round skiing area, in which national ski teams exercise. Vernago boasts an artificial lake that confers a special atmosphere to the village and is also starting point for the hike to the place of discovery of Oetzi, the Iceman.

Madonna di Senales is characterized by a lovely pilgrimage church and is also site of the ArcheoParc, which is an adventure museum dedicated to the life in the period of Oetzi the Iceman. Certosa is the site of a Carthusian monastery, which was established in 1326 and shut down in 1782. The monastery can still be visited today and is also venue for different art exhibitions in summer.

If you love hiking, you absolutely have to make a tour in the idyllic Val si Fosse, a fabulous area, as it is characterised by a unique flora and fauna and a fairytale-like natural landscape.
