Drive from Merano towards the Val Passiria valley until you reach an idyllic hamlet called Rifiano and an inn called “Ungericht” (770 m).
From here you hike within 10 minutes to the Mutlechnerhof, where a marked trail takes you to the so-called “Waalweg” along an old irrigation channel. The Waalweg is a fairly even path and nice to walk on. After 1 ½ an hour of walking you arrive to the channel's origins, near to the Finele river (1,020 m).
Here you cross the bridge and turn right onto a broad trail. The latter leads downwards for some 10 minutes. Then you turn left, follow the river and hike further along the Waalweg of Rifiano. After walking through a wood you will finally return to the “Ungericht” inn.
Nice for kids!
