Merano 2000 belongs to the Ortler Skiarena, of which it is the largest skiing area beside Solda. The skiing area Merano 2000 is accessible via Avelengo, where a gondola starts and takes you on the slopes. Some 40 km are available for skiing in this skiing area, most of which are of medium difficulty. Moreover it is a family-friendly area: in the children’s snow park, equipped with magic carpet, your little ones learn how to ski.
Also the panoramic view is breathtaking, in the west you can see the Ortles Mountain range, which is nearly 4,000 m high, in the south you can admire the spur of the Alps and in the east the magic paeks of the Dolomites. You need a brake? Stop at one of the seven ski refuges, which will provide for your creature comforts. On Friday evenings you can ski also at night-time, as the slopes are illuminated. For those who love cross-country skiing, there is a trail at Falzeben.
Ski touring is also a popular activity in this area, as there are numerous fabulous destinations in the surroundings. The skiing area is equipped with modern lift facilities, some of which have been replaced with more modern equipment in the recent years. Particularly popular is also the combined ticket Merano 2000 & Merano Thermal Baths. Another attraction in the skiing area is the longest Alpine Coaster all over Italy. A thrilling experience!
