Lago di Vernago

Lago di Vernago is located in val Senales on an altitude of 1,689 m asl.

Lago di Vernago is an antificial lake located in the west of Merano in Val Senales. This lake has been established in the 1950s, when a 65 m high dam wall has been built. Lago di Vernago includes a surface of about 100 hectares and is fed by Rio Senales. You can pleasantly hike round this lake or make a hike to the place of discovery of Ötzi the Iceman, starting from Lago di Vernago.

Also fishers are warmly welcome at the lake shore and they can try their luck in fishing rainbow trouts, pikes and many more fish.
