The mausoleum at Scena has been established between 1860 and 1869. The master builder was from Vienna and his name was Prof. Moritz Wappler.
At the west end of the hill at the church, an artificial terrace has been established and one of the greatest sacred buildings in New Gothic style has been constructed.
The construction is made of sandstone and granite from Monte Ivigna. The chapel of the tomb is located subterraneously and is sheltered by a massive ribbed vault. This is where the sarcophagus of Archduke Johann and his wife Anna Plochl. By the way, this is also where his son Franz and his spouse Theresa countess of Lambert rest in peace. The mausoleum is located on a hill close to the parish church of Scena!
