Cima di Tel

The Cima di Tel, the southernmost mountain of the Gruppo di Tessa, is a panoramic mountain providing a breathtaking view

High above Naturno and Parcines, the Cima di Tel (Zielspitze in German) rises into the sky. As southernmost summit of the Gruppo di Tessa, it is 3,006 m high and is the first summit in the ridge between the Valle di Tel and the Val Senales.

If you would like to scale the Cima di Tel, schedule about 4 hours for the ascent. Starting from the Giggelberghof farm (1,565 m a.s.l.), the altitude difference you need to overcome is 1,450 m. In order to reach the starting point you can either take the funicular from Rablà, or you drive the 10 km long mountain road from Parcines to the farm. The walking trail is rather steep and takes you to the Adlerhorst pasture, further on towards north west, where trails to the Ohrnknott, Oberforch and Cima di Tel branch off. Having left behind the forest, you can already see the Cima di Tel.

The last passage takes you via a saddle and rocky terrain on the more than 3,000 m high summit. The panoramic view is astonishingly beautiful: on one side you can admire the Val Venosta up to Bolzano, on the other side there are the summits of the Gruppo di Tessa as well as the snow-covered mountains of the Oetztal Alps. For scaling this mountain, you need to be sure-footed and free from giddiness. Caution in case of wet or icy terrain. Further paths of ascending this mountain take you past the Rif. Nassereith (1,528 m a.s.l.) or the Rif. Cima Fiammante (2,262 m a.s.l.).
