MMM Juval
On a mountain ridge between Val Venosta and the gorge to Val Senales, there is the MMM Juval, a museum that is dedicated to the myths of the mountains.
MMM Juval, one of five mountain museum of the former extreme alpinist Reinhold Messner, is located between the sunny Val Venosta and Val Senales. This museum focuses on the myths of the mountains and is aimed at bringing the fascination of mountains closer to visitors. The position of the castle itself is worth to be visited, as it thrones on the mountain ridge above the valley like an aerie. What is worth mentioning is also the east tower and the gothic hallway, boasting historic pictures of Juval Castle.
The museum shows pictures of the most important mountains of the world, e.g. the Ayers Rock, the Fujiama and the Kailash. Moreover there is a unique Tibetica exhibition, objets d’art from Nepal, Africa, India as well as religious symbols from Hinduism, Buddhism and Christianity. Moreover one hall is dedicated to an exhibition focusing on the Tibetan myth character Gesar Ling.
Furthermore Juval Castle offers a mountain zoo and Messner practices viticulture and biologic agriculture. A unique mixture of local and exotic culture expects you at Juval Castle!
Opening hours:
from the end of March - end of June and September - November from 10 am - 4 pm (guided tours only), closed on Wednesdays
Groups and special tours only on request. From the parking space at Juval you reach the castle by shuttle service or via the trails Roggia di Stava and Ciardes.
