Thurnstein Castle

“Thurm Platzleid” is the original name of the castle located in Lagundo.

In 1276 „Thurm Platzleid“ has been mentioned for the first time. Count Meinhard von Tirol, a reknown figure in history, enfeoffed the castle to Konrad Milser in 1282. In the 16th century the southern wing was added to the building, in the 18th centruy the northern wing.

The name Thurnstein, as the castle is called today, has been mentioned for the first time in 1478. The castle kept changing hands up to the 17th century, when the Egen family from Merano purchased the castle. It is still managed by the ancestors of this family today.

It offers a restaurant and an accommodation.
