Scena Castle
Illustrious halls, a picture gallery, a collection of arms and much more can be seen in Scena Castle.
At the heart of the village of Scena rises a venerable castle of the same name. Those crossing the bridge will reach the gate and if walking further, past the dungeon, you will arrive to a charming inner courtyard.
The castle was built in 1346 by a count called Petermann von Schenna. Romanesque window walls as well as some other little details tell however that there was a castle already at much earlier times, upon whose remnants Scena castle was built. Among the famous castle owners there was, for instance, duke Friedrich - also know as Freddie empty pocket - or archduke Johann. But Scena Castle had numerous owners, who renovated, changed and characterised it.
Today the castle hosts a number of exhibitions and concerts. By the way: right besides Scena Castle you will find the well-known mausoleum of archduke Johann and his family.
