Fahlburg Castle

Fahlburg castle is located at Prissiano, it used to be a defensive building and has been renovated in the 17th century.

In the 13th century Castel Fahlburg has been established as defensive castle and is located in the low mountain range of Prissiano. From the original building, today only the residential tower is left.
Around 1615 the defensive building has been changed in Renaissance style into a castle. The Counts of Brandis were in possession of this historical building back then. Fahlburg Castle also served as summer residence and was seat of the court.

The Renaissance elements have been preserved up to present times. Also inside the castle the panelling, masonry heater and other spruce items are very well preserved. Moreover there is a ceiling painting of Stefan Kessler. The Counts of Brandis are still today owners of the listed building and offer a restaurant in the chimney room.

In Fahlburg Castle the Tyrolean the first grounds for Tyrolean writing of history were made, as this is where a significant work was created by Andrä Brandis.
