The mild climate of Merano and surroundings does not only have a beneficial impact on humans, but also on the grapevines flourishing in Merano and surroundings.

The quality of South Tyrolean wines does not have to be emphasised, the best way to appreciate the benefits of this wine is simply to have a glass of Schiava, Lagrein, Sylvaner oppure Riesling. A visit of a winery or a guided tour of a vineyard with interesting information of the cultivation of grapevines and the productions of wines in Merano and surroundings, as well as a degustation of noble white and red wines are abolute must-do’s in your holidays.

Also some events in and around Merano set the focus on wine and related topics. In autumn e.g. there are the Riesling Days, a gourmet festival offering wine degustations, haute cuisine, visits of vineyards etc.

Another platform for wine connoiseurs is the Merano WineFestival & Culinaria, an event in the frame of which various initiatives take place. Vino Culti e.g. offers wine tastings of the best Pinot Bianco, wine lectures and also premiations of the best sweet wines of South Tyrol. Ars et Vinum, however, takes place in Lagundo, which in the days of the festival transforms into a huge stage for artists from all over. Moreover the new vintage is presented, combined with South Tyrolean delicacies and pieces of art.
