Schernag

Schernag is located above Nalles and is part of the municipality of Tesimo.

Schernag is the name of the locality that belongs to Tesimo and is located in the north of Nalles, to which it is connected by a bridge. It is the only settlement of Tesimo that is located in the valley floor of the Val d’Adige, at the foot of the plateau of Tesimo-Prissiano. Despite of the fact that Schernag makes part of Tesimo, there is no direct access to the locality from Tesimo. No wonder that the lives of the 70 inhabitants is mainly concentrated in Nalles.

Above Schernag the rivers Rio di Grissiano and Tesimo join to form the Rio di Nalles. A worthwhile excursion destination you can reach from Schernag is the Kasatsch Castle, also called Pfeffersburg. It name comes from the homonymous hill on which it was built in the 12th century. In summer it is by the way venue for several cultural events. Between the villages of Nalles and Tesimo, where the road leads up to Tesimo and Prissiano, there is the Stachelburg Castle and slightly above the Santa Croce chapel, idyllically surrounded by vineyards and fruit orchards.
