Like a natural panoramic platform Scena is located above Merano at 600 m slm underneath the Monte Ivigna mountain.

Scena, a former agricultural village, is located on a sun-drenched panorama hill above the city of Merano, that is only 4 km away. The localities belonging to Scena, which are Verdines, San Giorgio, Talle and Montescena, stretch from the border of Merano at 360 m slm up to the mountain peaks of the Sarentino Alps with the local mountains of Monte Ivigna and Hirzer.

Due to its location, its varied offer regarding leisure time activities, its mild climate with 300 sunny days per year, Scena with its 2,800 inhabitants has become an attractive holiday destination. Already in Roman times this territory was settled, which is testified by coins excavated in the village.

Worth seeing are not only the ancient and the new parish church, but also the mausoleum, which is the grave of the archduke Johann and his wife.
