The dreamy village of Gargazzone is located between Bolzano and Merano and is considered to be a family-friendly village. One the one hand there is a 5,000 sq m children’s playground which brought the village the title “child-friendly municipality“ in 2000. On the other hand, since May 2010 Gargazzone also offers a natural swimming pool, a pure bathing experience in the true sense of the word. The secret of its natural, pure water is in the water plants. A little river for kids, a pool for non-swimmers, a sports pool and several offers more make a family trip to this leisure time facility a real adventure.
The symbol of Gargazzone is the Kroell tower, dating back to the year 1240. The former barbican in the east of the village is decorated with the emblem of its first possessors, which was the Trautson family.
Another attraction is the Sacro Cuore parish church constructed in 1899 in neo-Romanesque construction style. The little S. Giovanni church, however, bears relics of the S. Octocius and a fresco dating back to the 14th century. Worth visiting are also a waterfall and an ice whole along the panorama trail, which can best be visited in a hike. Cycling, however, can best be practised along the Val d’Adige cycling path.
Especially spring is an impressive season in the village, as the apple blossom transforms this area into a sea of flowers.
