Tscherms Cermes

Cermes

Surrounded by vineyards and orchards, Cermes is located in the Val d’Adige at an altitude of 290 m asl.

The little village of Cermes with its 1,200 inhabitants nestles in the heart of orchards and vineyards in a hardly noticeable position between Marlengo and Lana. Away from the city and anyway, very near, that’s how the location of Cermes, about 5 km in the south of Merano, could be described best.

Above the village, there is Castel Lebenberg, a castle that dates back to the 13th century, when it was constructed by the Herren von Marling. Also the Kränzel residence in Via Palade deserves a visit. At this mighty Mediaeval residence, there is a gorgeous labyrinth garden that is open from March to November. The parish church of Tschermes is consecrated to S. Sebastiano. Worth a visit is also the little S. Anna chapel, dating back to the 17th century.

Cermes is by the way located at the beginning of the road to Passo Palade, taking you to the hiking areas of Monte Luco and the Val d’Ultimo with its numerous possibilities for hikes. Particularly popular is this road also with motor cyclists heading to the Trentino.
