Hafling Dorf Avelengo paese

Avelengo village

The village of Avelengo is an ideal starting point for tours and is seat of the parish church.

The village of Avelengo is the centre of the municipality of Avelengo and is also site of the S. Giovanni parish church, which boasts a prehistoric stone relief at the exterior façade. Avelengo is considered the home-town of the docile and persistent blond Haflinger horses, but their actual origin is considered to be in Val Venosta.

Worth a visit is also the ambry between the Via Locherweg and the access to the Nusserhof. This Gothic wayside cross dates back to the period of the pest around 1,600 and has entirely been renovated. Avelengo village is also starting point for hikes, such as to the Alpe di Verano and the Wurzeralm alpine pasture. Moreover you can reach the so-called “Knottnkino“ in Verano, a natural cinema without equals.
